We deal with numerous aspects of conventional and especially mechanized tunnelling.

For example we work on the clogging behaviour during TBM tunnelling in fine-grained soils and variable solid rocks has been a research focus at the institute for many years.

We are also interested in data analytics and machine learning applications to mechanized tunnelling to uncover new behaviours and discover existing problems.

We also work actively in the behaviour of tunnels under seismic loading.
