The study of the vocational specialization Civil Engineering can be studied at RWTH Aachen University in combination with a vocational specialization or a teaching subject. The Structural Engineering program includes a broad-based basic education in the reference sciences relevant to construction engineering, such as mathematics, physics and mechanics, surveying, building construction, building physics, solid construction and others. Furthermore, the study program includes a sound education in subject didactics and educational sciences. Topics of the subject didactics are, for example, the basics of curriculum development in industrial-technical vocational specializations and the development and design of teaching and learning arrangements.
The internships integrated into the educational science studies, the orientation internship and the professional field internship, complement the study of civil engineering.

Master

The course of study offers advanced studies in structural engineering. Students learn about selected fields of technology and are capable of bridging the gap between the fundamentals of engineering and applications in professional fields of work.

Students are prepared and accompanied by the University as they complete a practical semester at a school in order to apply their technical knoweldge and pedagogical skills in classroom lessons. Graduates are able to develop and implement teaching concepts using skills in the subject's teaching methodology and to present to others. The Master's thesis serves as the culmination of the program.
