Presentation at the Geothermal Congress 2023 in Essen

20/10/2023

From October 17 to 19, the GUT was represented at the Geothermal Congress 2023. The conference is organized by the German Geothermal Energy Association and is the largest national platform for geothermal topics for experts from both science and industry. At the Haus der Technik in Essen, numerous forums were held on current topics relating to near-surface and deep geothermal energy, including a keynote speech by the NRW Minister of Economic Affairs, with a focus on cold heating networks and district concepts. In the context of the GeoWaermeWende project, Aaron Förderer presented the calculation approaches currently being developed at GUT for low-temperature district heating networks. In addition, the "WebEWS" tool for modeling geothermal probes developed for the Geological Survey of North Rhine-Westphalia was presented in a poster and short presentation. This has been implemented in the NRW geothermal portal and can be accessed at www.geothermie.nrw.de. The positive response to the topics presented was very encouraging, as were the subsequent discussions with experts, which provided valuable impetus for future geothermal developments at the GUT.
